Some computer users do not like to have an image as their desktop background – good for them, to each his own I always say. Other computer users on the other hand like to spice things up and use a good looking image as their desktop wallpaper. If you fall in this category, then it may prove worth your time to take a look at the Cosmic Scenes application.

This application does a very cool thing: it generates a desktop wallpaper when you tell it to. After you install the application, it will generate a wallpaper that displays a beautiful cosmic scene. In the System Try you will notice a Cosmic Scenes icon. If you right click it and select “Change Wallpaper”, Cosmic Scenes will generate another cosmic wallpaper.

You can customize the way the Cosmic Scenes-generated wallpaper looks like. You can choose the number of suns, stars and nebulae the wallpaper displays; you can also choose the color of the suns and nebulae.

The great thing about Cosmic Scenes is that it can automatically change the wallpaper at specific intervals of time: every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes, every hour, or every day. Keep in mind that Cosmic Scenes generates these wallpapers on the spot, which means you will always have a cool new wallpaper on your desktop.

Download – the download weighs in at some 750KB, which means it will take very little time to get Cosmic Scenes off the web and onto your computer.
Installation – installing Cosmic Scenes will take little time as well. At the time of writing this and according to the developer, Bananas in Space provides support for Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, and Vista.
Limitations – the trial version displays a logo overlay.
